To most of us crossing the Atlantic Ocean in a small rowing boat sounds like a bad idea. Well, it is not if you are an experienced adventurer like Lilian Dauzat.
In 2015 Lilian made the decision to follow his passion and go on one big adventure every year. In 2016 he explored Latin America on bike, in 2017 he completed a triathlon, he crossed the Alpes and the Pyrenees in 2018 and cycled from Paris to London in 2019. He shares all of his adventures on his blog “One year of Adventure” and his Social Media channels. And this year he is going to row the Blue Gold across the Atlantic Ocean together with his friend Guilhem Orlhac.
After long and intense preparations, they are going to cast off from the Canary Islands in the middle of November and land on the island of Antigua in the Lesser Antilles after approximately two months. They plan on rowing 24 hours a day, taking turns every two hours, only accompanied by a support boat in case of an emergency.
Our colleague Julie Moussaron met Lilian in a co-working space in Aix-en-Provence and was fascinated by his dedication to adventure. When she heard about his new project she immediately took up the challenge: How can we protect Lilian’s skin under such extreme conditions as cold and heat, wind and saltwater?
