Our Roots

In the vibrant 1920s, chemists Dr. Kurt Richter and Dr. Julius Altpeter opened a small laboratory in a former Berlin brewery.

What began in a single room gradually became the foundation of a century-long journey.

Firm Through Change

In 1932, Frieda Vogel took ownership of the company — guiding it for nearly six decades. She navigated CLR through some of the most challenging periods in history: dictatorship, war, expropriation, and reconstruction.

After losing her husband in 1945, she rebuilt the company from the ruins of Berlin, re-established it in the West, and transformed it into a pioneer in biologically active ingredients.

She did more than preserve the business — she defined a culture that continues to shape us today:

Continuity in Science

In 1953, Günter Borchert joined CLR as a young chemist. Over the years, he advanced the company’s scientific profile, contributing to groundbreaking innovations like Collagen and Repair Complex CLR™ — setting standards that continue to influence the industry today.

Later, as owner, he combined scientific excellence with entrepreneurial integrity, building a legacy of trust that endures.

A Modern Chapter

With his son, Dr. Stefan Borchert, a new era began. He transformed CLR into a globally trusted partner — modernizing operations, expanding international reach, and positioning the company for the future.

All while remaining true to our core: the seamless integration of science, sustainability, and innovation.

He continues to bridge tradition and transformation — guiding CLR with purpose, and vision.
