Dandruff – a problem to solve
Our hair has a decisive influence on how we are perceived by others. We perceive full, shiny hair as well-groomed, while dandruff gives the impression of an unhygienic and unhealthy look. Dandruff is a common phenomenon and has nothing to do with poor hair care. The impact on those affected is immense. Apart from the annoying flakes, the scalp is also often irritated, oily and itchy. In addition to the physical effects, the psychological consequences should not be underestimated. Dandruff is nearly impossible to hide and has a major negative impact on self-esteem and well-being. The level of suffering is high and just as high are the expectations of those affected. To solve the problem is clearly most important.
What else influences the consumer?
Classic anti-dandruff active ingredients such as Piroctone Olamine or Zinc Pyrithione with anti-fungal effect have proven themselves on the market due to their effectiveness against dandruff and are now widely used. The goal of getting rid of dandruff is achieved through these active ingredients – but do these also solve the actual problem?
Even if the effectiveness of products against dandruff is clearly in the foreground, the modern consumer is also strongly influenced by other considerations. The decision to purchase a product is strongly influenced by the nature and perceived safety of its ingredients. Apps which help the consumer to evaluate the ingredients contained, have gained popularity lately and will continue to be popular in the future. The perfect product works and is just as safe for the environment as it is for the consumer. Modern consumers are interested in the influence a product has both on their own health and the environment. They want to feel completely comfortable with their decision – without any compromise.
This offers space for new natural alternatives to the tried and tested active anti-dandruff ingredients. Natural ingredients have great appeal to the consumer, but there is no room for compromise as to their performance. A natural active ingredient has to solve the problem of those affected at least as well. This is especially true with dandruff.
A natural solution
With our long and profound experience in the development of natural, safe and highly effective active ingredients, we have developed CutiBiome CLR™. Next generation skin microbiota research succeeded in the development of a highly effective solution that supports the scalp in regaining its natural and healthy balance with its microbiota. It is a synergistic complex of lipophilic extracts from Manuka, Black Pepper and Magnolia with the power of ancient wisdom inspired by Maori, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Indian Ayurveda.
Efficacy that convinces
Dandruff is a multifaceted problem where sebum production, microbial composition of the scalp and inflammatory processes inside the scalp’s skin play an imminent role. CutiBiome CLR™ was developed to act as an effective aid in reducing the burden of dandruff. In vitro and in vivo studies show that CutiBiome CLR™ reduces sebum and inflammation. Both aspects were not just assessed with objective methods of analysis, but were also confirmed by the volunteers who took part in the study. Oiliness and itchiness of the scalp and dandruff were perceivably reduced. Interestingly, on both oiliness and itchiness of the scalp, CutiBiome CLR™ clearly outperformed the benchmark ingredient, Piroctone Olamine. Both ingredients reduced dandruff similarly, albeit, analyzed with a micro-camera, CutiBiome CLR™ showed better results.
CutiBiome CLR™ – a smart approach
CutiBiome CLR™ was able to help in the recovery of a healthy scalp microbiome, whereas anti-fungal Piroctone Olamine was not. These results show that a natural approach based on old wisdom and state-of-the-art science can be infinitely smarter than even the most well-known and appreciated active ingredient for dandruff.
